Cinema Worker Solidarity Fund

As we come to terms with a health crisis that might mean long-term closures for New York City cinemas, we must meet the challenges ahead with mutual aid and solidarity. These closures have been necessary steps in the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, but many hourly workers will be paying an immediate price for the well-being of our city.

With the assistance of Light Industry, Screen Slate, and other community partners, we have started a fund that can be accessed by cinema workers whose hours have been curtailed because of this crisis and who are not being otherwise compensated.

We’re focusing specifically on New York City movie theater employees so that we can provide quick, if modest, relief to those in our community, but encourage others to consider the needs of their own networks.

Higher-Ground

Social distancing and self-quarantine are effective in preventing COVID-19 infection, but for vulnerable people living in crowded multi-generational households, the home can be the most dangerous place to be.

By sharing unused living space, we can empower each other to help solve this crisis. By providing temporary shelter and support to some of the most vulnerable members of our society, we can overcome some of the disproportionate suffering caused by this pandemic.

NIVA: National Independent Venue Association #SAVEOURSTAGES

These entertainment hubs are critical to their local economies and tax bases as employers, tourism destinations, and revenue generators for neighboring businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and retail. Independent venues exist in every state across the country; they were the first to be closed, they will be the last to open. The economic recovery process will extend past just reopening the front doors, requiring solutions unique to the industry.

NYC Low-Income Artist/Freelancer Relief Fund

We seek to provide support for low-income, BIPOC, trans/GNC/NB/Queer artists and freelancers whose livelihoods are being effected by this pandemic in NYC. The Bunker NY

Welcome to The Bunker Stream. As we obviously cannot gather our community publicly as we have been for over 17 years, we will be bringing you streaming video from the studios of our family of artists. We hope this helps everyone in our community stay connected. Big shout out to The Lot Radio for being massively helpful in facilitating this for us.

If you would like to make a donation, there are a number of ways you can do this. Neither The Bunker nor many of our artists have any regular income at all right now or for the foreseeable future, and could use all the help we can get. We are distributing whatever funds we can to various charities, artists, staff and other members of our Bunker family who have the most need right now. If you'd like to make a donation you can click the links above. We thank you from the bottom of our heart for your support through these hard times.
